Bush signed a bill today that allows usage of filters that strip movies of “obscene” content.
The movies’ creators had argued that changing the content — even when it is considered offensive — would violate their copyrights.
I’m not sure how to feel about this one. On one hand, the copyright holders should have control over ways their content is distributed, but on the other, they’re upset over a device that can be put on dvd players so this kind of falls into the DRM category. I’m a big advocate of being able to do whatever you want with your purchased digital property (ie doing whatever you want with what you’ve paid good money for).
